"To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all." - Oscar Wilde
Take a minute to let that sink in.............................................This quote came to life in the 1800s and still rings true today. I feel like all around the world people are taking their lives for granted and instead of figuring out how to get more from life and living, they'’re only surviving; going through the motions of life, each day passing by, falling into routine and going on autopilot. When you look back on your years, have you taken every opportunity in life you were offered? Have you pushed your potential and lived the life you wanted or a life beyond what you ever imagined? Are you living or do you simply exist? We are all capable of more than we think and we are able to learn how to get more from life but most people exist and do not truly live because they have a fear of testing the limits. If you could accomplish anything in your lifetime, and I mean ANYTHING, what would it be?
What's stopping you?.. Time? Money? Age? .. Nope. You are what's stopping you. This quote brings so many questions into play and it hits so hard with me because although I’'m not that old, I wish I had discovered how to get more from life much earlier. Although it's all around us and we hear it all the time, there was a moment of complete clarity where I truly realized you do only get one shot. Life only happens ONCE and even then you aren’t guaranteed any length of time. I was not going in a direction that would lead me to where I aspired to be and would enable me to live the life I wanted.
When I faced that reality, I took control of my thoughts and my choices. If I continued to live my life on autopilot, I would be more or less in the exact same place at the end of every year. Now, have I accomplished what I want? Not as of yet, but I'm well on my way and I LOVE knowing I'm on the right path and heading in the right direction. I made the choice to evaluate my path, learn how to get more from life and change course and since I made that decision, every day brings new life as I see myself getting closer and closer to where I want to be; it truly is an indescribable feeling! You can experience it too but nobody can make that decision for you, you are the architect of your own life and future.
The life each person wants to live will vary greatly so “living” life can only be defined as living life the way YOU want and dream of living it; in a way that when you wake up every morning, you feel excited and energized and are able to do what you LOVE and what makes you truly happy.
Are you headed in the right direction to create the life you want to live? If not, get excited because I have a simple solution – make the decision to change it. It IS that simple and the hardest part (for me and I'm sure for others and for you) is coming to the realization of where your path is taking you and making the decision itself to change. Even if you feel like you are too old, it's too late, you survived but you have not lived, good news – You're still alive :) and where there is a will, there is a way. Some people exist and that is all. You are not meant to simply exist, so break free of your fear, stop surviving and LIVE!!
Ask yourself two simple questions:
What do I really want to accomplish in this life?
How do I make that happen?Notice I didn't say “Can I”. It is never too late, the only limits in your life are those that you set yourself.
